Nicky Butt has been bailed after his arrest on suspicion of assaulting a woman.
The 44-year-old former Manchester United midfielder was held by police following reports on Tuesday a woman had been assaulted at an address in Hale, Greater Manchester.
Butt, now head of the club’s academy, was later released pending further inquiries.

The club refused to comment on a day where fellow Class of ’92 graduate Paul Scholes was charged by the FA after allegedly placing 150 bets during a four-year period.
Butt made 387 appearances for the club between 1992 and 2004 and has excelled in his new role in charge of the youngsters.
Since being appointed to the role in 2016, the emergence of the likes of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Angel Gomes have all been accredited to the former England international.
Rashford, 21, has scored 21 goals in 105 Premier League games and most recently started United’s 3-0 Champions League defeat to Barcelona, which saw them exit the competition at the quarter-final stage.
