The 31-year-old will become a free agent at the end of the season if he fails to agree a new deal with the Bundesliga club.

Max Kruse has emerged as a Tottenham target once again

Tottenham are reportedly on the lookout for a back-up striker to support Harry Kane, with rumours linking Fernando Llorente with a summer exit.

And according to Sky in Germany, the north Londoners are set to battle Inter Milan for Kruse’s signature.

Spurs were linked with a £9million move for the German striker back in 2015, but he reportedly rejected them to instead sign for Wolfsburg.

Since then, his stock has risen. The experienced striker has fired Bremen into European contention with a fine individual season, netting nine times and providing seven assists.

With his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, Kruse is free to talk to clubs around Europe and sign a pre-contract agreement.

Tottenham’s transfer policy rarely sees them opt for players over 30, but with Kruse potentially available for free, he represents a tempting option.
