Manchester City are not interested in signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to reports.
The Manchester Evening News claim that club sources have notified them that the 24-year-old is not a transfer target this summer, and thus will not be entering into talks with his representatives.
The Sporting midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the reigning Premier League champions this summer, with Pep Guardiola looking to strengthen his numbers in midfield.
Guardiola is believed to be looking for cover for Fernandinho, while Ilkay Gundogan could also depart in the close season.
City ace Bernardo Silva had even talked Fernandes up in the media recently, labelling him a ‘great player’ and adding: “He has made a fantastic season with many goals, many assists that are not normal for a player of his position.
“He has the spearhead numbers and we will see what happens at the end of the season.

City had previously not commented on any links with the midfielder, but the recent revelations appear to have put any speculation regarding a move for Fernandes to bed.
The club have also shelved plans to sign a left-back this summer, despite ongoing concerns about the position owing to Benjamin Mendy’s fitness concerns.
Guardiola had previously said City would be looking to sign a player in that position, but those plans now appear to have changed.
