Alexis Sanchez has apologised to Manchester United fans and blamed his poor form on ‘unpredictable’ injuries.
The 30-year-old, who is on a reported £500,000-a-week, netted just once in 20 Premier League appearances this term.
And after returning to the starting XI against Huddersfield in the penultimate game of the campaign, he was forced off with another injury in the 54th minute.
United finished sixth in an underwhelming campaign and Sanchez, who joined the club from Arsenal in January 2018, has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
In an Instagram post, he said: ”It was a very tough season…the fans are the ones who deserve an apology as they always support you no matter what happens.
“Personally, I didn’t perform as much as I was expecting because of unpredictable injuries.
“Press and people were speculating of things that were not even true. I was always a professional in all aspects.
“I apologise to the fans for not be able to achieve our goals. Nevertheless we are Manchester United! Players and Staff are questioning if we were doing the right thing and if we were giving our best for this football shirt.
