The entire Roma squad paid tribute to Daniele de Rossi as their captain announced he would be leaving the club in a press conference.
Roma decided not to renew the 35-year-old’s contract, drawing the curtain on their player’s illustrious 18-year career with the Serie A side.
His farewell was not without emotion as his team-mates, all wearing a Roma shirt with his name on the back, gave him a standing ovation during his port of call.
The veteran midfielder proceeded to embrace each of them before exiting the room.
De Rossi, who made his Giallorossi debut in 2001, is set to play his last ever game for the club against Parma at the end of the month when the Serie A season finishes.
