Manchester United face losing three key members of their first team if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

A 4-0 drubbing away to Everton on Sunday means the Red Devils face an uphill battle to qualify for Europe’s elite competition.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has promised the squad will undergo an overhaul after his attack on the players, but he may not be able to stop some of his best players leaving Old Trafford.

According to The Guardian, David De Gea, Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba will ‘consider their futures’ if Champions League football is not secured.

Spain No.1 De Gea has been involved in contract talks for some time now, with no breakthrough in negotiations. The 28-year-old will be out of contract in the summer, although the Red Devils have the option to exercise a one-year extension.

Pogba has openly admitted it would be a ‘dream’ to play for Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid and United have reportedly told Los Blancos how they much they will have to stump up if they want to prise the midfielder away.

Lukaku meanwhile has fallen massively out of favour following a fantastic first season at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has preferred to play on the break, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial utilising their mobility and subtlety in behind.

Following the humiliation on Sunday at Goodison Park, the Red Devils are now three points off Chelsea in fourth, but with a game in hand against Manchester City to follow.

And the Norwegian boss has warned his players they must step up before the end of the season, or face being jettisoned.

“I’m going to be successful here and there are players there who will not be part of that successful team,’ said Solskjaer.

“Many of them do have it. We have to stick together as a team. We can’t change the whole squad – it’s got to be one step at a time.”
