Manchester United transfer news: Crystal Palace duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Patrick van Aanholt wanted in £50m double swoop

Crystal Palace duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Patrick van Aanholt are wanted by Manchester United in a £50million double summer deal, according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to overhaul his squad after a disastrous end to their season, winning just two of their last 12 matches in all competitions.

And the Sun claim the highly rated Wan-Bissaka, 21, is being eyed up as a potential successor to Antonio Valencia, who is leaving the club this summer.

Solskjaer is also a big admirer of Van Aanholt’s defensive qualities, with Juventus and Roma monitoring the situation.

While Luke Shaw was one of the few United players to emerge with any credit from this campaign, winning the club’s Player of the Year award, Solskjaer is keen for the England international to have competition.

However, Roy Hodgson says he will fight hard to keep his star players at the club

Speaking after Palace beat Bournemouth 5-3 on the final day of the 2018/19 season, he said: “There’s nobody at the club who is anxious to see any of those players leave the club, in fact it’s the reverse.

“We’ve committed them to long-term contracts.

“[Michy] Batshuayi is a different case because he’s on loan. But [the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Wan-Bissaka and Van Aanholt] are committed to us on long-term contracts and we believe they have an important part to play here.

“We shouldn’t forget, yes there is a top-six up there, but if you take the other teams we are not light years away.

“Last year we missed out on 10th place on goal difference, this year we’ve missed ninth place by one point.

“I think we can offer as a football club a team which is competitive, isn’t miles away from the top half of the table and a team that plays good football and can get results.”
