Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante and Callum Hudson-Odoi will all start on the bench for Chelsea at Cardiff on Sunday.
The Blues also have upcoming matches against Brighton and West Ham as they prepare to play three times in eight days.
Instead of Kante, Sarri fields a midfield three of Jorginho, Barkley and Kovacic.
Up front, Willian and Pedro flank Gonzalo Higuain, rather than Hazard and Hudson-Odoi.
“At the moment Kante has played 50 matches this season and Hazard is 47,” Sarri told Sky.
“They both played with the national team, Hazard for 187 minutes and Kante for 175 minutes, so I think it’s time to rest.”
“Callum is always in my mind, but today I wanted to put in the condition to change the starting eleven on Wednesday.”
