Liverpool are the best counter-attacking team in Europe and can hurt Barcelona at the Camp Nou, believes talkSPORT pundit Danny Higginbotham.
The Reds will take on the Catalan giants in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night – with LIVE commentary on talkSPORT.
It promises to be a thrilling, attacking clash. Barcelona and Liverpool are two of the highest-scoring teams in the top European leagues this season, with 86 and 84 league goals scored respectively, and both sides go into the game in great form.
Much will be made of the Messi-effect – there is barely any stopping the Argentine wizard when he is in full flight – while, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho could come back to haunt their former club.
But Liverpool, with PFA Player of the Year Virgil van Dijk, boast the best defensive record in England and have an attacking superpower of their own; the three-pronged attack of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, who could be passed fit to play after a muscle injury.

And Higginbotham believes the Reds have a very real chance to cause an upset in Spain.
“I think Liverpool have got a fantastic opportunity,†he said on Wednesday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
“Obviously you look at Messi and Suarez and you can’t defend against them individually, it’s got to be a collective effort.
“But I personally think Liverpool are one of the best counter-attacking teams in Europe, if not the best.
“And they really can cause Barcelona problems on the counter-attack. We know how high Barca’s full-backs play and if they can drag the likes of Pique into the wide areas then Salah and Mane will think they’ve got a real opportunity.
“They’ve got to defend well but I think Liverpool can get a result.â€
