James Milner did not disappoint when asked how he would be celebrating Liverpool’s Champions League success.

The Reds beat Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid to secure their sixth victory in the competition.

The 33-year-old came on as a substitute for Georgino Wijnaldum in the 62nd minute and was unlucky not to start the match.

Milner was asked live on BT Sport on what his tipple of choice would be that evening.

Reporter Des Kelly said: “I remember asking you after you got through in Rome if you’d have a glass of red and you said you would take a cheeky Ribena. What’s it tonight?”

James Milner said: “It might have to be something fizzy and go a bit exotic. Lime and lemonade or something.”

He joined on a free transfer from Manchester City in 2015 and has gone on to play an important role in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Winning the Champions League means he has won just about everything a footballer can in club football.

Milner also is not afraid of self-deprecation as is shown by some of his hilarious tweets.

He has rapidly caught up with the parody account Boring James Milner with both on around 650,000 followers.

Rangers 2-0 Aberdeen: James Tavernier penalty double delays Celtic’s Scottish Premiership title celebrations

James Tavernier’s second-half penalty double helped Rangers finally get the better of Aberdeen in Glasgow with a 2-0 victory at Ibrox.

The Dons had knocked Gers out of both cup competitions in the city, and also silenced them on their last Ladbrokes Premiership trip south.

Steven Gerrard’s men have had some difficult outings against Aberdeen this season

But Tavernier ensured their was no clean sweep for Derek McInnes’ men as he swept home twice from the spot.

Defeat means Aberdeen – who finished the game with 10 men men after Andrew Considine was shown a second yellow card in conceding the second penalty – can no longer catch Gerrard’s team for second place.

And the Light Blues also avoided handing Celtic the title on the plate, with the champions-elect nine clear with nine points still available.

Before kick-off there was a minute’s applause in memory of Celtic great and former Dons boss Billy McNeill following his death earlier this week and the home supports’ tribute was every bit as gracious as the visitors’.

Both teams centred their approaches around the long ball. Rangers were looking to make the most of Jermain Defoe’s movement by slipping the veteran in behind, while Aberdeen set out hoping to make the most of Sam Cosgrove’s ability in the air.

The Dons nearly got the early breakthrough 13 minutes in when James Wilson dumped a long free-kick into the back-post area – but Cosgrove could only nod wide.

It was Gers’ turn to go long soon after as Connor Goldson shelled the ball in from the back, leading to a clumsy collision between Defoe and Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis.

The Pittodrie number one took a moment getting back to his feet but McInnes would soon have reason to be relieved that he was able to continue.

Gers turned up the heat as the game reached the midway point of the half.

Ryan Kent fired wide before Lewis had to make a stunning save to keep out Defoe after Scott Arfield had sent the Englishman through on goal as he flicked a Steven Davis pass round the corner.

Gers continued to push as the game ticked towards the break. Kent delivered a ball from wide on the right but Goldson headed over while Lewis stood firm to keep out further efforts from Tavernier and Davis.

But they only had to wait three minutes after the change of ends for the breakthrough.

Davis forced an early corner and as the ball dropped at the back post, Lewis Ferguson got himself in a tangle with Defoe before tripping over Nikola Katic as he stood on the Croatian’s foot.

Referee Don Robertson showed no doubt as he pointed straight to the spot and Rangers skipper Tavernier was just as assured as he sent Lewis the wrong way with his penalty.

Defoe blew a great chance from point-blank range to double the lead after 58 minutes as Tavernier’s cross ricocheted off Lewis’ chest straight to the poacher – but he scooped over.

Tavernier had the ball in the net again after 64 minutes as he chipped over Lewis, but what would have been a stunning team goal was chalked out after the right-back had wandered offside.

But the captain did get his second as Robertson awarded Gers their second spot-kick.

Katic was again involved as Davis sent in another corner, this time going down rather softly after catching Considine’s flailing arm to the face.

Tavernier scored both of Rangers’ goals

2

Tavernier scored both of Rangers’ goals

The decision stunned the Dons defender and his frustration was compounded when Robertson produced a second yellow to go with the one he received just before the break as he was sent off.

Tavernier showed no mercy as he sent the ball passed Lewis’ despairing reach to confirm the points.

But Gerrard was in sentimental mood and afforded former club captain Lee Wallace a standing ovation from the home support late on ahead of his expected summer departure.

'World Cup final' for Reds

'World Cup final' for Reds
LONDON ̢ۢ The Merseyside derby has always been a fiery affair, but tomorrow's clash at Goodison Park will have an added edge, with Liverpool eager to hold on to their lead at the top of the Premier League table and Everton desperate to claim bragging rights for once.
The last time the Toffees beat their cross-town rivals was in October 2010 under then manager David Moyes and the 18-match winless run against the Reds is their worst in history.
But, while Jurgen Klopp can empathise with the long-suffering home fans and is "generous enough to wish them luck", that magnanimity does not apply when both sides meet "in a World Cup final for us and them".
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the encounter, he said: "I have had no bad experiences so far with Evertonians. If we are first and second in the table, as long as it is the right first and second (place), I am okay."
Promising to keep his emotions in check unlike the reverse fixture in December, when he was fined £8,000 (S$14,326) for running onto the pitch to celebrate Divock Origi's added-time winner at Anfield, he said at his pre-match press conference yesterday: "I didn't want to do it, it just happened. We are not planning the celebrations, we are planning (for) the game.
"I'm not sure it's possible to be more motivated than we were in the previous derby.

NO LONGER THE FRIENDLY DERBY
We always want to be very aggressive in the best football way. We are ready to hurt ourselves and not the other guy. We fight for the ball, not the bone. The crowd wants to win and the best way to do that is to keep 11 players on the pitch.
JURGEN KLOPP, Liverpool manager, hoping t o keep his players' tempers in check.

"The game was tough and it will be tough again... Hopefully, it has a good end for us."
Klopp also called on his players to "use the loud atmosphere" to fuel their game and "be very aggressive (but) in the best football way".
The German told reporters: "It is a very, very, very important game in the season.
"Not only because of the situation, but because of the history. We are ready to hurt ourselves and not the other guy. We fight for the ball, not the bone.
"I was not involved a lot in crazy games, so for me, it's a misunderstanding. The crowd wants to win and the best way to do that is to keep 11 players on the pitch.
"There have been a few situations in the past where the red cards have played a factor but not recently.
"In the game, it's emotional and passionate - that's how football should be. You're against your opponent constantly and sometimes you forget to support your own team but, at Goodison, they support their team.
"Anything less than 100 per cent and you will lose. We always have pretty good games, but experience tells you, you have to be spot on and fight each fight and stay clear, stay fair and stay aggressive in the most legal way."
The 51-year-old also revealed that Roberto Firmino, who missed their midweek league win over Watford with an ankle injury, was in contention to play.
He said: "Firmino has been out there and running in training yesterday. He is very positive, but that is Bobby's nature. It looks really good, but I don't know for tomorrow."
However, even if the Brazil forward fails to make his starting line-up, Klopp still wants more goals from other areas of the pitch, including dead-ball situations.
He added: "Set pieces helped us in the beginning, it disappeared a little but, hopefully, we get it back because I love scoring from set pieces."
And, while Liverpool and Everton rarely agree on anything, Klopp's opposite number Marco Silva shared the same sentiments yesterday at his pre-match press conference that it was a "special match for the city and the fans".
Recalling Origi's "lucky goal", the Portuguese manager also mocked the manner in which the Reds boss celebrated the win as if it "was the final of a World Cup".

Manchester United transfer latest: Five possible Romelu Lukaku replacements

Manchester United transfer latest: Five possible Romelu Lukaku replacements

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku is seemingly on his way out of Old Trafford.

The Belgian does not seem to be part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans for next season and he has has already been linked with a move to Inter Milan, with new San Siro boss Antonio Conte a huge admirer of the striker.

Romelu Lukaku struggled for form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Marcus Rashford led the line for large parts of the season but his finishing still leaves a lot to be desired, having notched up just ten goals in 33 matches this season.

So who should United target to replace Lukaku? talkSPORT.com has identified five suitable targets…

Nicolas Pepe

According to the Daily Express, United have identified Pepe as a potential replacement for Lukaku.

The 23-year-old winger, who has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s brightest stars, has also caught the attention of Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Ivorian netted 22 times and provided 11 assists in a superb campaign and finished as the league’s second top scorer.

Pepe has been linked with a move to the Premier League

Pepe has been linked with a move to the Premier League

Club president Gerard Lopez recently told Telefoot: “Four or five players will be leaving this summer.

“He enters a price range that can no longer be paid. There is a career choice to make for him, I think he will have the choice.”

Pepe is under contract with Lille until the summer of 2022. It is understood the club value him at £60million.

Antoine Griezmann

It would be a real statement of intent if Man United manager to pull off the signing of Griezmann.

The World Cup winner is undoubtedly a global star in the game and he could be the marquee signing needed to propel United back into Europe’s elite.

Manchester United’s previous interest in Griezmann has been no secret

Manchester United’s previous interest in Griezmann has been no secret

The Frenchman favours a move to Barcelona and would most certainly prefer a move to a club which can offer Champions League football, but the financial power of the Old Trafford club could offer him an contract offer to good to refuse.

Luka Jovic

Jovic was seemingly on the verge of signing for Real Madrid but reports in recent days have settled and United could swoop in on the forward.

The striker has risen to be one of the hottest properties in Europe with his fine performances in the Bundesliga.

Luka Jovic was seemingly on his way to Madrid but United could hijack a deal

6

Luka Jovic was seemingly on his way to Madrid but United could hijack a deal

The 21-year-old has netted 27 goals in all competitions this season and if there is any sense of urgency at United, the Red Devils hierarchy should move quick to hijack the deal as this forward is the real deal.

He is still very young and could solve United’s problems up front for many years to come.

Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan)

Icardi has long been linked with a move away from Inter and his position at the club looks precarious after he was stripped of the captaincy in February.

Icardi remains one of Europe’s hottest strikers

6

Icardi remains one of Europe’s hottest strikers

There is no question that he is hugely talented as he has a phenomenal goal record for the Serie A side, with 109 strikes in just 179 league matches.

And with Conte targeting Lukaku, a potential swap deal could suit both parties perfectly.

However, Icardi may favour playing in the Champions League and could try and fight for his place in Conte’s set-up as the Italian begins his reign with the San Siro outfit.

Moussa Dembele

There was a lot pressure on the Frenchman’s shoulders when he moved to Lyon from Celtic last summer but he has delivered with 21 goals in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side.

The 22-year-old is no stranger to English football, having played for Fulham before joining Celtic.

Dembele could be a good option for United

Dembele could be a good option for United

But he was still very young during his spell with the Cottagers and now he has more experience under his belt in the Scottish and French leagues.

He could prove to be a big hit in the English top flight, with his skill set seemingly perfectly suited to the division.

A move for Dembele would no doubt be a risk, but it may be worth taking as he would be a cheaper option than the other forwards in this list.
