Brazil vs Panama: Ederson and Alisson resume their battle to be the No.1 Brazilian goalkeeper

Ederson is set to start ahead of Alisson for Brazil̢۪s friendly against Panama on Saturday.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has been the Selecao No.1 during manager Tite̢۪s reign and forced Ederson to watch from the bench at World Cup 2018.

But the Manchester City stopper will reportedly get the nod when Brazil host Panama this weekend.

It is the first of two friendly games for Brazil, who entertain England̢۪s 2020 Euro qualifying opponents Czech Republic on Tuesday, live on talkSPORT 2.

The matches are part of their preparations for this summer̢۪s Copa America.

Alisson̢۪s status as Brazil̢۪s No.1 has restricted Ederson to just three senior caps.

In October, Ederson praised his international team-mate when talking about their rivalry.

He said: “I think there is a lot of similarity between the two of us, he is having a very positive start to the season at Liverpool.

“Brazil is well served for goalkeepers, many who have not been to the World Cup are very good. Those who are picked will do a good job.”

The race for the Golden Glove award is heating up with Alisson leading Ederson by three clean sheets.

Alisson tops the table with 17 shutouts as Ederson trails in second with 14.

The former Roma ace has also been the busier of the two goalkeepers, making 16 more saves.

The duo will now battle it out on the international stage but who will grab the upper hand?

It’s likely Alisson will return to the starting XI as Brazil face the Czech Republic live on talkSPORT 2 on Tuesday.
