Tottenham icon Graham Roberts was among the many Spurs fans fuming with Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana during the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night.
Onana appeared to be time-wasting during the second-half of Ajax’s 1-0 victory at the new White Hart Lane – but his behaviour went unpunished by the referee and only three additional minutes were added at the end of the game.
Roberts, who made 287 appearances for Spurs, has questioned the game’s current guidelines over time-wasting.
He suggests a system closer to the one used in rugby, which stops the clock when the ball is not in play.
The 59-year-old tweeted: “A big disappointment was how long the Ajax goalie took to take goal kick and ref only played 3 mins.

“I timed the goalie and all night added up to 9 mins so Uefa have to do something about this.
“Maybe when the ball goes out the clock stops and re starts when the ball is in play.”
Spurs have it all to do in Amsterdam next Wednesday after Donny van de Beek gave Ajax a crucial away goal without reply.
Mauricio Pochettino admitted he got his tactics wrong after a dreadful first-half performance, but Tottenham were much improved after the break, which made Onana’s antics all the more frustrating for the home crowd.

By all accounts, Everton's goal should have been disallowed as Walcott, who had been involved in the build-up, had been in an off-side position. So, that and the fact that Mina had got away with an obvious foul on Success that should have earned us a free kick and him a second yellow card, meant we were feeling very hard done by.
