Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger will not feature again this season after undergoing successful knee surgery.
The Germany international limped out Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United last Sunday, raising fears he will miss the remainder of the campaign.
Rudiger also hobbled off during the Blues’ 2-0 defeat at Liverpool earlier this month and questions have been raised as to whether he returned prematurely.
It was later confirmed he suffered a knee injury against the Red Devils, and Rudiger shared a picture on social media to update fans on his situation.
“What a pity I won’t be able to help my team during the last games of the season,” he wrote on Instagram. “But my knee surgery went well and I’m already positive again.”

What a pity I won't be able to help my team during the last games of the season. But my knee surgery went well and I'm already positive again 💪🾠Thanks for all your messages and comments. And special thanks to the efforts of Professor Mariani @villastuart and his team ðŸ™Ã°Å¸¾Ã°Å¸™Ã°Å¸¾ #AlwaysBelieve #Hustle #comebackstronger
Rudiger has been one of the club’s standout performers this season and his loss will prove a blow, with Chelsea still vying for a top-four finish and Europa League glory.
Maurizio Sarri’s men currently sit fourth with a two-point cushion over Arsenal, but the Blues have two tricky fixtures remaining – against Watford at home and Leicester away.
